Maximage is an award-winning design studio based in Switzerland.
It offers a large area of expertise including visual identities, digital solutions, books, posters, typefaces, artworks and consultancy. In its practice, tools and technology are constantly challenged, introducing a reflection on contemporary production processes. Over the years the studio has collaborated with institutions and clients in Switzerland and abroad. Long-term collaborations include art direction for the Zurich-based publishing house Edition Patrick Frey and the development of campaigns for Arsenic–Contemporary Peforming Arts Center.

Parallel to its work, Maximage offers numerous workshops and lectures at Swiss and international universities. Members of the studio regularly teach at HEAD in Geneva, ZHDK in Zurich, as well as ECAL in Lausanne, where they conducted a research project on printing technologies, which resulted in the creation of Color Library. Maximage also manages the type design platform Maxitype that offers retail and bespoke typefaces and encourages research and development in typography.

The work of Maximage received several awards from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in recognition to their commitment to the field. In 2020, the studio was honoured the Jan Tschichold Award.

Limited edition furniture identity

Created in 2012 by two self-taught artists, the Ateliers J&J is a furniture design and a manufacturing business. Craft and self-financed, the Ateliers J&J is made up of a production unit combining carpentry and ironwork. The production is entirely produced in their workshop in Brussels and ensures expertise and quality. The different ranges using their favorite materials such as wood and metal are aesthetic, durable and accessible. For Ateliers J&J, Maximage designed the logotype, posters and other ephemera.

Color Library is a database of color profiles for artists, designers, photographers, and printers

Color Library is a database of color profiles for artists, designers, photographers, and printers. It aims to widen the possibilities of color printing, and reflects on our contemporary perception of color as it is shaped by the recent developments in print production. The platform offers a large variety of color combinations, from basic colors to metallics, neons, and pastels. With Color Library, your images can easily be printed in offset, flexography, silkscreen, risograph or any other printing technology that uses spot colors.
Color Library was initiated during a workshop held at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne with Franz Sigg (RIT/Rochester Institute of Technology) and Maximage. Originally developed for experimental purposes, the project was extended in order to create an online platform for development and distribution. Color Library is a registered non-profit organization, all income is reinvested in research and development.
Color Library is part of the research project Workflow (2014–2018), an inquiry in printing technologies, carried out at ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne by David Keshavjee, Guy Meldem, Tatiana Rihs, Julien Tavelli, and supported by the HES-SO/University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland.
